Alpina is luxury brand of German automobile manufacturer, BMW. It was founded by Fritz Maybach, the third son of the car manufacturer's founder, Karl Benz, who created the first modern automotive automobile.

The Maybach name was first introduced to the public in 1922, when Fritz was named president of the Maybach Motor Works. In the beginning, the name "Maybach" was not used by the company for its automobiles, but instead the name "Maybach" was reserved for all of its automobile parts and its various luxury cars.

Maybach Motor Works was the most important automobile manufacturing company in Germany in the early 1900s. It made various types of cars for Mercedes, Bentley, and Borsig, and it was the only company that sold automobiles directly to the public.

Today, Maybach Motor Works is one of the most prominent and successful brands in the automotive world, and its name and symbol are still recognized throughout the world.
