New Opera Singapore is a non-profit organization, founded by Soprano Jeong Ae Ree in 2011. Mrs. Goh Chok Tong is our Patron.

The mission of New Opera Singapore is to reshape the face of opera in Singapore, with an emphasis on developing local talent. Our contribution to Singapore is to provide quality performances to engage our audiences and provide opportunities to our young local talent to study art and allow them an artistic career in Singapore and elsewhere. We are known for our high-quality productions such as “The Turn of the Screw” by Benjamin Britten, “Orpheus in the Underworld” by Jacques Offenbach, “L’incoronazione di Poppea” by Monteverdi and our outreach program “Who’s Afraid of Opera” in schools, community clubs & libraries.

We have presented almost 20 productions and 35 community performances over the past 6 years. Our accolades include “Best Debut Singer” in 2013 by The Straits Times and “Best Performance of the Year” in 2014 and 2015 by The Straits Times. Our audience is a mix of sophisticated professionals and business people as well as students who simply love music.
