They were also the ones who set the benchmark for the best local coffee in kopitiams throughout the Peninsula, and some say Singapore. In Penang, dishes like Chicken Chop, Chun Pniah (Springroll) and Macaroni Pie were the highest order of Western food we could call our own. Wanning Association is one of 15 Hainanese Associations in Penang, with about 700 members. The members trace their roots back to the Wanning area, southeast of Hainan Island. The association observes a calendar of festive days where members congregate and a community feast will usually follow.This dinner celebrates the culinary legacy that the Hainanese are known for in Penang, and will also echo their spirit of adaptation.Note: This event is limited to 80 seats.
