One is a classic painter of portraits, while the other is a budding caricaturist. A. Rashid learnt his art from his father who painted large cinema posters, in the days before digital printing. He became known nationally when he won the Mahsuri painting contest in Langkawi in 1995. The portrait was adopted as the official face of the legendary beauty. Caricaturist Azmi Hussin, who draws with the moniker ME, launched his comic book, Tanjung Life, earlier this year. The book centres around buck-teethed character Joe G exploring Penang. Azmi is often found drawing caricatures n Penang’s street markets. He’s now working on his second book.
