Wish to introduce
greenery to your space, but looking for something space-saving yet stylish? In
our Hanging Gardens series, find out how to bring the garden indoors and make
them a vertical feature in your home.
Over four sessions in
July, you will be taught to construct
attractive, swish-looking hanging planters that will thrive in a light filled
room. These hanging garden designs include:
- Macrame
planters
- Kokedama
- Himmeli
geometric planters
- Hanging
basket
Over the course of two
hours per session, participants will receive all the materials they need to
create at least one basic version of the planter they choose, and craft it for
themselves to take home for nurturing. Participants will also receive
instructions so they can recreate the planters at home.
Reservation is required
at $128 per session, or $498 for all four sessions.
Macrame planters
Macrame is an ancient art
of decorative knotting, which can be used to create stunning plant holders.
While there are many different styles, we will focus on two ways macrame can be
applied to planters.
Kokedama
Also known as string
gardens, Kokedama is a variant of bonsai cultivation, where plant roots are
wrapped within a moss ball. It can be suspended using string, or left to sit on
a piece of pottery, to be admired.
Himmeli Geometric Planters
Traditionally regarded as
Christmas ornaments in Finland, Himmeli mobiles were originally made of straw,
but now come in materials which include brass and plastic. In this session, we
will create two Himmeli -styled geometric planters, perfect for displaying air
plants.
Hanging Basket
The
hanging basket is a very traditional style of planting flowers and trailing
plants, and often features brightly coloured cottage flowers. Learn how to put
together a charming hanging basket, versatile enough to be used both indoors
and out.Updatestag:peatix.com,2015-07-02 07:48:182015-07-02 07:48:18The event description was updated.
