This neighbourhood is Singapore’s largest architecture conservation district; usually associated with the Malay, Peranakan Straits Chinese and Eurasian communities. As we traipse through the backlanes, shortcuts and hidden gardens we will snack on street foods that are popular with the neighbours. This neighbourhood is earmarked in the State’s Master Plan to be one of the 4 new secondary cities outside the Central Business District and it’s a district in transition as it tries to make sense of the current and new developments.
