Join Tony Tan on a three-hour tour to rediscover of the vibrancy of Chinatown at its fringes while learning of its illustrious and at times unsavory past. The locale of what is now known as Chinatown is the legacy of the 1823 Raffles-Jackson Singapore Town Plan. In the first 100 years of Raffles’ founding of Singapore, the local Chinese population grew rapidly bringing along its trades, cuisines and cultures. This neighbourhood has evolved but remain relevant today. By walking with Tony, you learn of old and new favourite foods; in old and new dining areas old and new Chinese migrants cultures, visit potentially the world’s largest urban farming project tailoring resource centre, and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The tour will end at Hong Lim Food Centre where you can indulge in the various local favourites for lunch.
