ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Come and escape everything you were told about photography with Guggenheim grant recipient/photographer Maggie Steber. The goal of this workshop, besides moving you forward in your thinking and practice of photography, is to create a safe place to expand your vision and ideas.

In this workshop our goals are visual liberation. This is about telling any story, whether it’s about the way you see the world or something you imagine in one photograph or as a series. It’s great for those who want to fall in love with photography again.

On the first day, we will dive head first into brainstorming ideas you can work on during the week. We will look at photographs by various people working in this genre for inspiration. You can bring a project already in the works or you can start afresh. You should be thinking about what you would like to do based on your past, your life, your loves, anything you want to keep a secret. Anything goes.

We will have class each day to review the previous days’ work and one-to-one meetings so that you get individual attention. Participants should show 10 of their photographs on the first day to give me a sense of where you are at. Show something risky, or a collection of images from a project or story you have shot.

This workshop is for experienced photographers and artists who want to break out of the box and experiment with new ideas.
