PRESS RELEASEBritish Reggae & Dancehall Legend Tippa Irie debuts alongside Diggy Dang (Reggae Rajahs, India’s 1st Reggae sound system) in Singapore at February’s Singapura Dub Club FRIDAY 20th February 2015, Sunday - Anthony Henry, known as Tippa Irie; a British Reggae singer and DJ from Brixton, South London will showcase his prowess on the mic for Singapura Dub Club @ Artistry, 17 Jalan Pinang. Tippa came into prominence as the boisterous MC for top South London sound system Saxon Studio Interna;onal in the early eigh4es, pioneering the way for other dancehall, drum & bass and grime MC’s aIer him. His singles his singles “It’s Good To Have The Feeling You’re The Best” and “Complain Neighbour” (Greensleeves Records) began char4ng on BBC Radio, leading up to his UK Top 40 Hit “Hello Darling”. His appearance on The Black Eyes Peas’ smash hit “Hey Mama” (2003) gained him a Grammy Nomina4on and interna4onal recogni4on. Tippa Irie has collaborated with King Tubby, Mad Professor, Congo NaMy, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5), London based avant-dancehall outfit and The Bug. Tippa Irie is a legend for UK Reggae & dancehall. He con4nues his role as a pioneer and innovator, touring China and South East Asia, bringing his music and sound system culture to fresh new audiences. Alongside Tippa Irie will be our February Dub Club feature DJ Diggy Dang - founder of the Reggae Rajahs (2009) India’s first reggae sound system. Nominated for the Best Interna4onal Group award at the British Reggae Industry Award (2012) alongside illustrious Jamaican ar4sts like Toots & the Maytals, Mighty Diamonds and Third World, Reggae Rajah’s Diggy Dang gained notoriety as a selecta at clubs and live venues in Delhi, Mumbai, Goa and Bangalore. Known for energe4c live performances, the Reggae Rajahs host the infamous DubstaDon stage at the NH7 Weekender Fes;val. Diggy has played in major fes4vals from Uprising (Slovakia), Outlook (Croatia) to appearances in Peru, New York city, Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur. Opening for act recognized acts like Snoop Dogg and Major Lazer, Reggae Rajahs have made a name performing alongside artists such as Apache Indian (UK), Ziggy Recado (Holland), Million Stylez (Sweden), Mr. Williamz (UK), Brother Culture (UK), Soom T (UK), Mungo’s Hi Fi (UK), Deadly Dragon Sound System (USA), Blessed Love Sound System (Germany), Dub Inc.
