Deepavali, also known as Diwali, is the Hindu festival of lights and marks a new beginning — the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil. Shanti, your Singaporean Indian guide, will lead you through the narrow alleys and tell you stories from epic tales. You will enter one of Singapore’s most important temples — the Sri Veeramakaliaman — and learn about the faith of Hinduism. This year the celebration of Deepavali falls in late October. During the entire months of October & November, Little India is transformed into a glittering bazaar where families go to buy everything needed for the auspicious day. See the myriad colours of oil lamps and dresses fit for a princess. Gold jewellery gleams through shop windows and stores sell sweet goodies to be shared amongst loved ones.  Learn how to drape that most elegant of women's outfits, the sari. We will end the tour with a delicious "thali" dinner in one of Shanti's favourite restaurants.  Please do join up quickly as we're limiting this tour to 13 people — it will sell out fast!
