END ALS "Still Life" プロジェクトとは:ALSの特徴である、「動けなくなる」ことを、説明的すぎず、社会にインパクトがある形で、伝えたい。それがプロジェクト「Still Life」です。英語でStillには二つ意味があります。「まだ」という意味、そして「静止した状態」という意味。美術用語で[Still-life]というと、静物を題材にした美術表現に用いられます。（Still-life Painting : 静物画 や Still-life Photography 静物写真 など。）そもそもEND ALSのタグラインでもあるI’M STILL ALIVE（オレはまだ生きている） と病気の特徴である動けなくなる状態 の"Still" をかけて「Still Life」という企画になっています。「ALS患者が絵画のモデルに挑戦」というシニカルなアプローチにより社会へのインパクトを狙い、ALS患者がモデルとなり、ALSの残酷さを世の中に知らしめます。ギャラリーに訪れた人がALS患者を題材に絵を描き、仕上がった絵がギャラリーの壁を埋めてゆきます。それらの絵をEND ALSに寄付して頂き、今後ALSの認知を高めるための広告ビジュアル等として活用させて頂きたいと考えています。「Still Life」がひとつのムーブメントとなり、世界中のALS患者がこの企画で絵を残し、大きな広告となり、世の中が動く事、そして一刻も早くALS撲滅を目指して。 About END ALS “Still Life” Project:
In this "Still Life"painting event, Hiro Fujita, an ALS patient and founder of END ALS, served as the first painting model, and many more ALS patients followed to participate as a model. The aim of the event is to promote awareness and understanding of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease designated as “intractable” by the Japanese government. Hiro has lived with ALS for 9 years. There is so much to be done to spread understanding of the disease and its realities. This event invites people of all ages to come paint ALS models and to see the “stillness” of his/her life, as ALS has taken movement away from them despite leaving intact his ability to think, sense, and feel. The ultimate goal is to urge stronger action in finding a cure for this devastating disease.
