Godzilla is a romanisation of the original Japanese name Gojira—which is a combination of gorilla and kujira (whale). The word alludes to the size, power and aquatic origin of Godzilla. Affectionately regarded as the King of the Monsters in movie history, the original 1954 version was made at a time when Japan was reeling from nuclear attack and H-bomb testing in the Pacific. It has since became an international icon of destruction, spawning over thirty sequels and adaptations to date.Screening Courtesy of TOHO Co., Ltd. SCHEDULE7 June, Friday - 8pm 15 June, Saturday - 8pm TO NOTE: - All film screenings are held at Oldham Theatre, National Archives of Singapore.  - Concession tickets apply to Students (Local & Overseas), Full-time National Servicemen (NSF), and Senior Citizens (55 years old and above). - Please check film ratings before purchase of tickets.
