Make sure you write how you want your name to appear in the booklet for the patrons.My Bio:Simone N. Perry was born on October 22, 1987 in Brooklyn, NY but spent most of her childhood in Hazlet, NJ. Simone has been a dedicated member of Second Baptist Church (SBC) since she joined in 1995. She was President of the Junior Usher Board, Secretary of the Gospel Chorus and a dedicated member of the Sunday School. Simone is a recipient of the SBC Scholarship. She currently is a member of the Adult and Children's choirs as well as the Praise Team. she graduated with High Honors from High Technology High School in 2005. She served at hths as Secretary of the Technology Student Association and was a member of the Biology League; the Multicultural Club; the Black Student Union and the Drama Club. Simone also worked on the School’s quarterly newspaper. She was co-Layout Editor for the school’s yearbook. Simone was awarded the Carrie Wolfe Memorial Scholarship for compassion, courtesy, friendliness and Christian values . Simone is a member of the National Honor Society, where she worked with children and raised funds for the American Cancer Society, the Silver Lining Foundation and St. Jude’s Research Foundation.After graduating from HTHS, Simone studied Psychology at Rochester Institute of Technology. During her college career she was awarded the Urban League, Computing Medal, Nathaniel Rochester Society, and Davis Leadership Scholarships. She was an active member and Community Service Chair of Phi Sigma Pi, Co-ed National Honor Fraternity. She worked with Rochester Cares, Teach for America, American Red Cross and continued her efforts with the American Cancer Society. She also participated in other projects to raise money and books for schools and students in need. She was a member of Signatures Magazine as Literary Editor , secretary for Caribbean Students Association and treasurer for Gospel Ensemble. The 2008 edition of Signatures, during one of the 3 years she was literary editor, won a Gold Crown Award from Columbia University Scholastic Press Association.Simone Nikkole also showcased her work in two poetry chapbooks, The Theatre of the Mind and Clouds Across the Stars. Simone graduated from RIT in 2008 and began attending Teachers College, Columbia University in 2009. While at Columbia University, Simone became involved in the Coalition for Latino Scholars and the Black Student Network. She has participated in New York Cares , AIDS walk and volunteered at Ronald McDonald House. She interned with the Addiction Institute of New York and received her CASAC-T. In addition, she volunteered at 2nd floor teen helpline in Hazlet and became a part time Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Response Team Member for 180 Turning Lives Around. In 2010, She also published her first poetry book My Journey through Poetry under the psuedym of Simone "azucar" Nikkole. After publishing, she started Si.Nik (see-nick) Productions to help all writers and poets develop their craft and cement their individuality.She graduated in 2011 with a Masters of Arts and Masters of Education in Psychological Counseling with a focus on Multicultural Mental Health Counseling. That same year, she was also featured in Enhance Magazine and chosen to showcase her poem “weightless extension” onthevoicesproject.org during April, National Poetry Month. Simone, then, began working at Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families as a Mental Health Specialist in the Kinship and Adoption Units. In 2013, she published her first pocket sized chapbook, "Sidepiece Sanctifications". She was also featured in an anthology “Mo’ Joe”. She is active member of Inspired Word NYC and just began her own Poetry column, "The Sugar Cube", in the upcoming online magazine, Zine. She plans on teaching poetry to school aged children in Brooklyn with the Green Earth Poets in near future. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the NY Mental Health Counseling Association, and the New York Metropolitan Area Alumni Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi. She is currently working with Comfort Care Home Care Services where she helps foster children adjust to their new surroundings. Her ultimate plans include becoming a licensed Substance Abuse Counselor, receiving her Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, and using her poetry to change the racial dynamic in the communities which she touches.Her motivating bible verse is 1 Timothy 4:12 " Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity." Her life motto is "Live to Love and Love to Give."
