Screwed Up Moments #6: The Lion Mind Edition!
We all have our own stories of screw-ups and major failures in our lifes that we don't typical share with others for fear of being judged or ridiculed. In the media, success is often celebrated and glamourised. We only talk about failures as an afterthought once we become successful. On social media, we constantly compare our lives to the seemingly perfect lives of our friends. This creates a pervasive fear of failure in our society in today's day and age.
Screwed Up Moments was organised to help destigmatise failure, and to share the message that it's okay to fail, and it's okay to try. The talks will focus on stories of failures, where ordinary people come forward to share about their biggest screw-ups and failures, and how they overcame it.
- 3 individuals share authentic stories of their biggest screw-ups and how they got over it
- Interactive Q&A sessions for audiences to ask questions to the speakers
- Interactive activities in-between different speakers to explore our fear of failure
It will be moderated by Simon Leow, a Positive Psychology practitioner, who will share deeper insights on the fear of failure that is so pervasively common in so many of us.
Participants at this edition of Screwed-Up Moments can opt to receive a free mental health assessment from The Lion Mind immediately after the event! There are five assessments to choose from: Depression (PHQ-9), Anxiety (GAD-7), Insomnia (sleep diary), Career Assessment (RIASEC) and Burnt-out Assessment. You can choose to do some or all of them.
Happiness Initiative is born out of a culture that is quite different. In Singapore, often, happiness and wellbeing can wait. Progress and financial achievements take precedence. When we neglect our happiness and wellbeing for too long, it comes at a price. Once we get into the downward spiral, it is not easy to get out. Progress and financial achievements don’t have to come at a price of our happiness and wellbeing. They can coexist.
Happiness Initiative is about helping people discover the choices they can make.
The Lion Mind is a non-profit organisation (NPO) that advocates for mental health. Through education and partnership with the community, The Lion Mind promotes mental wellness and positive psychology. In today's competitive and stressful living environment, there is a greater need for people to recognise the importance of a healthy mind.
