Harvard's CS50 course is a tour de force exploration of the realm of computer science and programming starting from a single bit and advancing to applications in the domains of biology, cryptography, finance, forensics and gaming. Individuals can complete the highly demanding course at cs50.tv, but being part of a learning community and being able to ask for help will make the journey far more enjoyable. 11 weekly evening sessions will cover the entire CS50 course material. The class is designed to cater to working adults with or without prior exposure to programming. It may also be suitable for students in junior colleges and tertiary institutions surveying this field as a potential future pathway. The class is divided into two blocks of 6 and 5 weeks, with a short break in between. It will be fast-moving, requiring participants to be highly self-directed and there will be a fair amount of commitment required outside class to complete the material and problem sets. The class aims to be a supportive learning community where members learn together and motivate one another to the finish line. It will be primarily facilitative in nature and assistance will be rendered to participants who get stuck. The class will run as weekly 2-hour sessions every Friday, 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the centrally located IDA Labs@National Design Centre. Do note that we might have to postpone sessions depending on the availability of the space.You will require your own computer.
