Communication happens when the recipient, offered not a message but an empty vessel, supplies the meaning himself.MUJI's initial slogan, "Lower Priced for a Reason", was the work of Ms Kazuko Koike, who helped prepare MUJI's debut. Ms Koike, a well-known curator of contemporary modern art, also acted as a MUJI slogan copywriter.Born in Tokyo and graduated from the Faculty of Letters, Arts and Sciences in Waseda University (Tokyo, Japan), Ms Koike has produced many copywriting for Seibu Saison Group including Parco and Seiyu since 1970.Today, Ms Koike serves as a creative director and a member of MUJI advisory board.She will deliver a presentation on the topic of "The Birth of MUJI" and the transition of MUJI development from their creation to the present.This will be followed by a panel discussion joined by local creatives Theseus Chan and Grace Tan, who will share their thoughts on design from different perspectives. EVENT INFORMATION:Date: Friday 26 April 2019Time: 4.00pm – 6.00pm (Registration starts 3.00pm; Door opens at 3.45pm)Venue: SOTA Drama Theatre Fee: $15 (A 10% discount is available for bulk purchases of 10 tickets and above.
