Aka WLJ SG is a non profit community organisation founded to strengthen the jazz and related music community but also well known for organising/managing music events to impact the community at large. We are delighted to announce that the U.S. Embassy Singapore has again engaged us as an implementing partner to plan and execute the Singapore stop of an American female chamberfolk trio Harpeth Rising’s American Music Abroad (AMA) tour, February 27 – March 4, 2019. The organisation has worked on the same program in 2017, to manage Singapore stop of Tony Memmel's group. The AMA program requested WLJ SG to program the tour so the band will have 3 days full of outreach elements such as; (1) local school visit & performance/talks, (2) Music collaboration with local music community members and (3) public performance. Please join us to experience Harpeth Rising's mind-blowing performances at our familiar locations in Singapore!!! ◾️PUBLIC PROGRAM (Updated 25 Feb) MARCH 1 (FRI) 7-9pm  Music & Friendship Exchange at LASALLE College Of The Arts (Concert/Talk) Venue : Room G302 @ LASALLE College of The Arts 1 McNally Street (S) 187940Acts : Harpeth Rising (USA)Echo City (SG/LASALLE)Hadi Hamid (SG/LASALLE) Event Timeline : 19:00-19:10 Welcome address by WLJ SG / The US Embassy SG19:10-19:35 Welcome performance by Echo City & Hadi Hamid (approx 25min)19:35-19:45 Turn over 19:45-20:30 Performance & Story by Harpeth Rising (45min)20:30-20:50 Q&A (20min)20:50-21:00 Closing remark by WLJ SG / Group photo-End of the event -For full tour detail : Harpeth Rising Singpapore Tour 2019 Facebook Page MARCH 2 (SAT) 1) 9:35-10:20am (45min set)  : Market Square @ Singapore Botanical GardensAddress : Orchid Plaza, Singapore Botanic Gardens[ Official Link ] 2) 2-5pm :  Cultural Collab with Orkestra Melayu Singapura  Venue : Our Tampines Hub1 Tampines Walk, Singapore 528523Basement 1 Festive Mall [ official location site ]*Limited to 20 guests (please make a reservation by sending message to WLJ SG Facebook Page)www.orkestramelayusingapura.org 3) 7-7:45pm : Finale Performance at TimbreX @ The Arts House 1 Old Parliament Lane, #01-04 The Arts House, 179429[ Official Website ]  ◾️NON-PUBLIC OUTREACH PROGRAM 28 Feb (Thu)School Visit & Performance at SOTA School visit & Performance at Crescent Girls' School ---------------------------------------- ABOUT HARPETH RISING (Cintinatti, Ohio, USA) Jordana Greenberg ( band leader - violin/songwriter)Maria Di Meglio (Cello)Michelle Younger (Banjo)Harpeth Rising is an American female chamberfolk trio that draws inspiration from the music traditions of many cultures, including Irish, Eastern European, American southern, and African music. The band members play the violin, cello, classical guitar, and the banjo, and they enjoy teaching workshops and performing. Harpeth Rising has been touring full-time for six years throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia. Harpeth Rising’s debut album—SHIFTED (2015)— defined their “chamberfolk” sound and brought their music to wider, international audiences, followed by sophomore album Against All Tides (2017). The trio has toured full-time for six years and performed across the United States, Europe, Australia, and the UK. Each member of Harpeth Rising has a classical background and holds performance degrees from some of the most venerated music schools in the world, including Oberlin, Indiana University, and the Eastman School of Music. This history, however, is only one dimension of this group’s powerful musical voice. Hailing from vastly different parts of North America, each member of Harpeth Rising brings different influences to the band’s core sound. Hallmarks of their music include expansive three-part harmonies, consummate musicianship, and a deft—yet soulful—lyrical perspective.Official Website : http://www.harpethrising.com/ American Music Abroad a U.S. State Department-sponsored program designed to communicate America’s rich musical contributions to the global music scene as it fosters cross-cultural communication and people-to-people connection to global audiences.http://amvoices.org/ama/ Our Partners Programming Partner : The U.S. Embassy of Singapore Equipment : BCUBE Live Sound and ProductionNParks (Singapore Botanic Gardens)School of the Arts, SingaporeOrkestra Melayu Singapura (Singapore Malay Orchestra)Crescent Girls' SchoolWillie Lyou (LASALLE College of the Arts Technical Officer)Program & Tour Management by We Love Jazz (Singapore) LimitedInquiry : info@welovejazz.orgArtist inquiry : DriverKS@state.gov #WeloveJazzSG#TheUSEmbassyofSingapore#HarpethRising#AmericanMusicAbroad Updates tag:peatix.com,2019-02-28 14:52:49 2019-02-28 14:52:49 The event description was updated.
