Gabrielle Brady's debut feature is a searing look at refugee politics, told through the eyes of Poh Lin, a trauma counsellor who has the seemingly impossible task of supporting the island's detainees.  Stories of the refugees' unbearable, untenable situation play out against the richly textured natural rhythms and traditions of the island, as millions of crabs make their journey to the sea and the local Chinese community marks the Hungry Ghost Festival. Artfully crafted and rife with visual poetry, the film contemplates myths of the past and the present in a delicate interrogation of what it means to be human.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI5zgie8PwE ______________________ Ticketing Get the Stories That Matter Season Pass to attend all four film screenings from 27 Feb to 2 Mar at only $35! They inform, obfuscate and empower our most deep seated beliefs. This edition of Stories That Matter unpacks the role mythic tradition continues to play in our lives, through national, political and cultural narratives that shape our perception of the world.  Stories That Matter is an annual programme presented by Objectifs that looks at critical issues and trends in non-fiction visual storytelling.
