Born and bred here, she believes that this century-old heritage ought to be sustained and revitalized. Other than researching on the theatrical craft, she also works with various national bodies, schools and organizations to promote traditional Chinese puppetry to a wider audience.   Troupe's BiographyBeginning in the 1970s, Sin Ee Lye Heng is the last Teochew puppet troupe in Singapore. Being the final stronghold means that the troupe now bears the responsibility of continuing this art from Chaozhou. The troupe is proud to have young puppeteers to sustain the craft and hopes to do so for a long time.  Synopsis of Puppet PerformanceTao Hua crosses the river is an excerpt of the famous Chaozhou play, The Sixth daughter Su. Tao Hua is the maid of Sixth Daughter Su, the protagonist, and her master had given her orders to cross the river to pass a message. During the boat ride across the river, Tao Hua made merry with the boat man and together they sang festive songs, including the activities observed during Chinese New Year.
