JuMP (Junior Maker Programme) Saturday Labs is a weekly programme for aspiring young makers (age 6-12) who are keen to hone their building skills through basic making, designing, problem-solving and investigative activities centred around STEM/STEAM-related ideas. Through themes, this programme will explore the diverse interdisciplinary nature of learning and reward learners through a series of badge system upon completion of the programme. 'Saturday Labs' will be held weekly on Saturdays from 10am-11.30am or 12.00pm-1.30pm, depending on parent's option. The first term will begin from 19 Jan - 16 Mar 2019. The venue will be at the Makerspace@NDC, National Design Centre Singapore. https://youtu.be/pxKv6lrX1J4The Saturday Lab sessions for Term 1will be as follow:TINKERER (8 sessions) - Term 1Design Making & Prototyping Using 3D doodling for design conversations Able to prototype organic forms using ‘Polymorph’ plastics Dream up futuristic cityscape using tapigami (making models with masking tapes) Digital Fabrication Overview of 3D modeling applications e.g. TinkerCAD Converting sketches into 3D models and vice versa Exporting of files for other 3D model applications Kinetic Computing Introduction to analog robotics Understanding and applying sensor-process-actuator loop with electronics Develop a variety of kinetic-related expressions, installations or sculptures Illumination Arts Make paper-based/card-based circuits Embed lighting electronics into everyday object e.g. cloud lamp Experiment with fluorescence, luminescence and ‘blacklight’.
