Back by popular demand Chinese medical theory is not scientific in the ordinary sense of the word, but is as elegant as many profound scientific theories. From its almost metaphysical models emerged a system of health preservation and therapy that has not only survived from antiquity to modern times but also gained increasing acceptance in developed societies. What is the secret of its popularity and how can it help you achieve health and longevity? About the speakerSpeaker Hong Hai is Adjunct Professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and former Dean and Professor at NTU’s business school. He had an earlier career in business, and was President and CEO of Haw Par Corporation (1990-2003). He received the MPA from Harvard Kennedy School in 1988 and attended the Advanced Management Program at HBS (AMP 94).  Educated originally in engineering and economics, he developed a passion for Chinese medicine in midlife, qualifying as a Chinese physician in 2003 then researching medicine for the MD (Beijing University of Chinese Medicine), MPhil (Cambridge) and PhD (London). His doctoral dissertation critically examined the scientific basis for Chinese medical theory. A former member of the Singapore parliament, Professor Hong Hai has chaired the Government parliamentary committee on health and was also Chairman of the Select Committee on Land Transportation which proposed the vehicle quota (COE) system. He practises medicine part-time at the Renhai Clinic, which he founded. He has published five books on various aspects of Chinese medicine and is completing a book on East Asian culture and management.
