Join Green Is The New Black for 3 power hours of talks at EarthFest 2019, to learn how you can break up with plastic, go low to zero waste, the fragility of our food system and impact on the planet, how to be more plant-based and why sustainable businesses are the way forward. SESSION 1) ZERO WASTE & MINIMALISM [11:30AM-12:30PM] By now we've all heard about plastic in our oceans, landfills filling up and seen the excessive waste we are producing. Reducing waste can be daunting, but how can we start to take little green steps to live a more minimal life? In this session, we will hear how to get started on our zero waste journey, how you can make a change and use less plastic, and how we are actually a zero-waste species at heart. Hear from:  Kim Stengert the Chief of Strategic Communication at WWF, Mathilde Moyell Juul the Founder of Orgayana, Kate Yeo a student environmentalist and Founder of BYO Bottle Singapore, and Chris Jensen the Co-founder of Climate Conversations.  SESSION 2) ADVOCACY & ACTIVISM [12:45PM-1:45PM]Have you ever questioned where our trash really goes, wondered what carbon neutral really means and heard about how important soil is to our survival? If so this is the session for you. We will be diving into jaw-dropping discoveries on our food system and the impact of soil, how we can save the environment through carbon-neutral electricity, where Singapore's trash comes from and how we can minimise our 'pointless' use of plastic. Hear from:  Marialine Verdickt the Founder of CircleWerkz and CEC Circular Economy Organiser, Sivakumar Avadiar the Director and co-founder of Environmental Solutions, Stella Cochrane and Yanmei Yang the Founders of Trash Hero Singapore.  SESSION 3) PLANT-BASED & SUSTAINABLE BUSINESSES [2:00PM-3:00PM]From going vegan (and why you should care) to running sustainable businesses - this session will explore how to do good for you, the planet and have a lot of fun along the way.
