Where are the Chetti Melaka? Who are they? What is their story? Discover the answer to these questions through this introductory film.
Shot in Singapore and Melaka in documentary style, this film presents the journey of Chetti Melaka youths in search of their roots, and unearths lesser known facets of the Chetti Melaka in Singapore.

About K. Rajagopal
Born 1965 in Singapore, K. Rajagopal has worked on stage and in film for over fifteen years. He has collaborated with many notable theatre directors on projects such as Medea, Mother Courage and Private Parts. After an 11-year hiatus, he appeared in the role of King Lear in The King Lear Project at the KunstenFestivaldesArts (Brussels) and the Singapore Arts Festival in 2008. As a filmmaker, Rajagopal has won the Singapore International Film Festival’s Special Jury Prize for 3 consecutive years with I Can't Sleep Tonight(1995), The Glare (1996) and Absence (1997). His other films are Brother, commissioned by the Singapore Art Festival, The New World and Timeless, both commissioned by the National Museum of Singapore. He also directed a segment of Lucky 7, an exquisite corpse feature film by 7 prominent Singaporean directors, as well as The Flame, which was part of the SG50 anthology, 7 Letters. A Yellow Birdwas his first feature film.
About ARTWALK Little India 2019
ARTWALK Little India is an annual multidisciplinary public arts project set in the cultural precinct of Little India. Presented by the Singapore Tourism Board and LASALLE College of the Arts with the support of Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association, ARTWALK is back with its fifth edition themed Image and Sound of Fragrance.
From wall murals to exhibitions to performances, ARTWALK has something for everyone. Excite the senses and immerse yourselves in the rich heritage and culture of fragrance in Little India. The festival will run from 18 January to 2 February 2019 with performances and activities on Friday and Saturday evenings.
