About the WorkshopExplore the ‘Sound of Dance’ with Nikita through Bharatanatyam. The workshop is designed to allow participants to experience dance as the source music, rather than to let them simply dancing to music. It is suitable for beginners and all age 12 and above. Comfortable clothing is advised for all participants.Venue: 37 Campbell Lane (Shophouse)Choose from the following dates:Sat, 19 Jan 7:00pmSat, 2 Feb 7:00pmAbout the InstructorLured to the art of Bharatnatyam at a young age, Nikita started formal dance training at the age of 3 with Guru Maalika Girish Panickker and began her journey as a soloist at the age of 8. Her immense passion drove her to obtain a diploma in Bharatnatyam at the age of 13 from SIFAS along with the ‘Best Student Award’ and the title of “Natya Visharad” a high standard of performance in the Diploma examination. She then went on to train under the eminent guru, Smt. Nagamani Srinivasa Rao, sister of late Sri. Adyar Lakshmanan, in Bangalore. Currently, as a company dancer of Apsaras Arts, Nikita has been part of the company’s repertoire productions such as “Agathi- The Plight of the Refugee”, “Anjaneyam – Hanuman’s Ramayana”, “SITA – As Painted by Raja Ravi Varma” and “Alapadma – The Lotus Unfolds” which has toured all over Asia and Europe. She is also trained in Mohiniattam under Kalamandalam Vimala Menon, RAD Ballet and gymnastics. Alongside her professional career in dance, she has modelled for local brands and magazines and debuted in a film. Nikita is currently pursuing a degree in Fashion in LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, and is working on establishing her own fashion label.About ARTWALK Little IndiaARTWALK Little India is an annual multidisciplinary public arts project set in the cultural precinct of Little India. Presented by the Singapore Tourism Board and LASALLE College of the Arts with the support of Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association, ARTWALK is back with its fifth edition themed Image and Sound of Fragrance. From wall murals to exhibitions to performances, ARTWALK has something for everyone.  Excite the senses and immerse yourselves in the rich heritage and culture of fragrance in Little India. The festival will run from 18 January to 2 February 2019 with performances and activities on Friday and Saturday evenings.
