About the Performance The Coffin is Too Big for the Hole is one of Singapore’s best-known monologues. Written by the late Kuo Pao Kun, a single unnamed man takes us through his story about his efforts to bury his late grandfather in the standard-sized plot that is unfortunately too small for his late grandfather’s coffin. This is a fresh retelling of Kuo Pau Kun’s popular satirical monologue, conveyed by a young Indian woman using a variety of devices including live camera, shadow play and mask. They combine to create a production that is both contemporary and traditional, creating a space where the imagination can meet the playwright both in the present and across time and culture.This production was highly praised when it was first presented at Le Festival Des Ecoles, in Limoges, France in June 2018.Venue: Haque Center of Acting & CreativityChoose from the following dates:Fri, 25 Jan 7:00pm - 7.45pmSat, 26 Jan 6:30pm - 7:15pmAbout the Performer This production is presented by LASALLE’s Diploma in Performance Programme. The programme trains performers to develop strategies and skills to interrogate the world and respond meaningfully with traditional, contemporary and experimental performance disciplines. Encompassing the significant rite of passage from apprentice to performer, this dynamic programme trains performers to recognise events that have the potential to be explored and developed into performance. Graduates go on to professional careers in theatre, film, television and live events. About ARTWALK Little India 2019ARTWALK Little India is an annual multidisciplinary public arts project set in the cultural precinct of Little India. Presented by the Singapore Tourism Board and LASALLE College of the Arts with the support of Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association, ARTWALK is back with its fifth edition themed Image and Sound of Fragrance. From wall murals to exhibitions to performances, ARTWALK has something for everyone.  Excite the senses and immerse yourselves in the rich heritage and culture of fragrance in Little India. The festival will run from 18 January to 2 February 2019 with performances and activities on Friday and Saturday evenings.
