'nuflesh'. A solo exhibition by Jennifer Mehigan

LATENT SPACES Test Site Preview. 9 August to 7 September 2014

LATENT SPACES is kickstarting Test Site with 'nuflesh'- a solo exhibition by Jennifer Mehigan.

Soft cyberskins of dildos, real dolls, ejaculate, saliva, hichew candy, jelly shoes and latex alongside the metals used to create iPhones and laptops (tantalum, tin, gold, tungsten), processed on a computer screen and printed on silk.

Jennifer looks at how sensuality manifests online and through screens - how the connection between the body and the machine becomes blurred as opposed to forced into a false dichotomy of offline vs online, etc. According to her, the notion of a fluid communication experience that is immaterial and effortless takes from our corporeal relationship with spirituality, manifesting as yet another attempt to transcend the body. Notwithstanding, other bodies are violated in the process.

It is a different kind of dark age.
