Join us this weekend as we introduce our film selection, share what to look out for, and discuss the topics surrounding our films with guest speakers. Ho Chao-ti [Taiwan]Registered attendees will stand a chance to win SGIFF tickets during a lucky draw at the end of the talk!-----------------------About the Speakers KOK HENG LEUN is a prominent figure in the Singapore arts scene, having built his artistic career as a theatre director, playwright, dramaturg and educator. Heng Leun is known for his ability to engage the community on various issues through the arts, championing civil discourse across different segments of society. Heng Leun’s contributions to the arts have landed him the National Arts Council Singapore Young Artist Award in 2000 and the National Arts Council Cultural Fellowship in 2014. Heng Leun previously served as a Nominated Member of Parliament, representing the Arts Community. LAU CHEE NIEN has produced five independent features and a sitcom with director Han Yew Kwang. After graduating from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with an Advanced Diploma in Film Production specialising in directing, he directed a series of televised programmes that include children’s drama and infotainment. He learnt how to produce while on the job and  has also taught production as an adjunct at his alma mater, Temasek Polytechnic, LASALLE College of the Arts and ITE College Central. 18g Pictures is the company he set up with Yew Kwang in 2009 to produce their own content, which includes WHEN HAINAN MEETS TEOCHEW (2010), LOVE IN A CAB (2010) and RUBBERS (2015). ALFONSE CHIU is currently Editor and Creative Director of independent film magazine SINdie.sg, and founder-editor of cultural publication The Y Mag. An alumnus of the inaugural Singapore International Film Festival Youth Jury and Critic Programme and the Udine Far East Film Festival Campus, his writings on art, film, and culture have been published in Singapore, Canada, and the United States.
