Many acting classes are available that develop various methods and techniques of approaching performance, from Stanislavsky to Strasberg, Meisner to Suzuki, however few tackle the unique problems of working with the camera, from vocal techniques to working within the frame, and dealing with the ‘unreality’ of the film set while maintaining the reality of character and performance.Each workshop will involve an explanation of an aspect of screen acting with shown examples, followed by working on a scene for the camera.Participants will be given a scene which they will work on during the class, and they will be able to continue working on this scene as further techniques are introduced as the series continues.Subjects Covered Include: Vocal levels Adjusting performance for the frame ‘Cheating’ the shot Eyelines and Blocking Acting and Reacting Who should take the class: Actors looking to broaden their range into screen-work. Performers wishing to gain experience working in English, if it is not their first language. Directors aiming to gain knowledge of ‘the other side of the camera’. Before coming to Japan he ran the film training classes for Raindance in London for ten years.Rory began his work in the industry having trained at London's prestigious Poor School as an actor. He worked on both stage and screen, including being directed on the West End stage by Oscar-winner Stephen Daldry, before moving on to work as a casting director for several feature films and countless short films. During this time he also wrote and directed many short films which have played at film festivals world-wide.
