Stay engaged, as our young musicians bring you across the New World. From New World Symphony to Hungarian Dance, to Navarra, hold on tight and join us as we head on a musical journey.

With musicians as young as 6, the annual concert series at Victoria Concert Hall is Kids' Philharmonic@SG Orchestra's opportunity to showcase our many young talents. This year, we have Marcus Loo Cua and Tan Mun Hon performing solo, accompanied by the Orchestra in Navarra. Join us to celebrate the achievements of these amazing young musicians!


About Soloists (Marcus Loo Cua and Tan Mun Hon)
Marcus Loo Cua,
who is eleven years old, started learning violin at the age of four. He is under the tutelage of Mr Luo Wei, Music Director and Resident Conductor of Kids’Philharmonic@SG Orchestra (KPO).

Marcus is an active orchestral and solo violinist and has performed at major local concert venues such as Esplanade Concert Hall, Victoria Concert Hall and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, as well as participated in KPO’s international performances in places like the Golden Hall, Vienna, Austria and in Yilan, Taiwan. As a soloist, he has performed works such as Antonio Bazzini's Dance of the Goblins (La Ronde Des Lutins), Paganini's Caprice Nos. 5 & 16, Ottokar Novacek's Perpetuum Mobile, Charles Auguste Beriot's Violin Concerto Nos. 7 & 9.

Marcus has also attended masterclasses conducted by renowned violinists: Prof Midori Goto of University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, Prof Zhang Ti and Prof Tong Wei Dong of Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, Prof Huang Chen Xing of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Prof Ani Schnarch of London Royal College of Music, Prof Kim Nam Yun of Korea National University of the Arts, Assoc Prof Zuo Jun of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Mr Li Kai Xiang of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Prof Chen Chinn-Horng of National Taiwan Normal University, Prof Takashi Shimizu of Tokyo National University of the Arts and Ms Kam Ning, Artistic Director of Het Kamerorkest Brugge.

Thirteen-year-old Tan Mun Hon started learning violin at the age of six and has been under the tutelage of Mr Luo Wei, Music Director and Resident Conductor of kids’philharmonic@sg Orchestra (KPO), from the age of eight.

Mun Hon is an active orchestral and solo violinist with KPO and has performed at major local concert venues in Singapore such as Esplanade, Victoria Concert Hall and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. As a soloist, he has played Paganini’s Perpetual Motion in C major (2014), Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor (2016) and Paganini’s “La Campanella” (2017).

Mun Hon has also performed in masterclasses conducted by Prof Zhang Ti and Prof Tong Wei Dong of Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, Prof Huang Chen Xing of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Assoc Prof Zuo Jun of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Assoc Prof Vilmos Szabadi of Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and Ms Kam Ning, Artistic Director of Het Kamerorkest Brugge.

About kids' philharmonic@sg Orchestra
Kids’ philharmonic@sg Orchestra made its inaugural debut in 2012, with the aim of being an orchestra for young musicians between age 6 – 17, to build lasting friendships and pursue musical excellence.

With over 140 young musicians playing across 3 orchestras of varying levels, the orchestra recognizes the benefits of this experience in developing young children as musicians, and better people. Our programs are designed and executed by professionally trained instructors who are experienced performers and teachers. Beyond musical excellence, kids’ philharmonic@sg orchestra develops character of each musician, instilling skills such as being a team player and discipline in the members while keeping music a fun experience.

Kids’ philharmonic@sg orchestra has since collaborated with esteemed musicians such as Wang Yahui, Vienna Boys’ Choir, Zuo Jun, Kam Ning, and won multiple awards, including Gold award in “One Future” The World Orchestra Festival, Vienna (2015). The orchestra is a recipient of Seed Grant from 2015 – 2018.
