What is design and architecture in a child’s eyes? BEEP (Built Environment Education Programme) LAB aims to enrich and engaged the minds of primary school children by introducing the diversity and richness of Singapore’s cultural and built environment heritage. Through the experiential learning experiences that are able to capture the imagination of the kids, BEEP LAB seeks to introduce creativity and awareness of heritage through a series of hands on workshop known as KIDsBuild to promote the learning of the cultural and built environment all around us.---1 DAY SET UP---Headed by Albert Liang from BEEP and a group of volunteers from SAA Architects, NAFA Landscape Architecture, NUS, Mark 12 Architects and KYX Architects at this year’s edition of KIDsBuild brings city building to children and families. Participants are given the opportunities to build with varieties of models making materials some of which are sponsored by Singapore Cartons during the event day. The hands-on workshop titled Heritage of Singapore introduces the foundations of city planning and encourages children to design with richness of Sngapore’s multi cultural heritage in mind.​--- EXHIBITION ---The KIDsBuild powered by BEEP Lab exhibition will showcase the mega city created by the young workshop participants and visitors at Millenia Walk’s Great Hall. The interactive nature of the installation hopes to spread awareness of the importance of public participation in urban design, city planning and heritage preservation.--- PUBLIC PARTICIPATION ---Encouraging public involvement, 140 children from the 5 participating Student Care Centres, along with caretakers, volunteers, urban planners and parents, will participate in the exhibition set-up at the Millenia Walk Great Hall.
