The event is presented to mark the quiet existence of a historic structure that was built in 1925. Situated at the top of a hill now lined with high-rise condominiums, Cairnhill Arts Centre has witnessed rapid urban redevelopment in its surrounding while housing different cohorts of tenants from pre- war time to the present. The opening was officiated by Tommy Koh former Chairman of National Arts Council.Cairnhill Arts Centre exudes a serene unhurriedness with its premises nestling among tall trees and a stone’s throw away from busy Orchard Road. The Arts Centre is an urban oasis that counts regular sightings of birds like black-nape orioles and even hornbills with its flora and fauna. The secret garden like compound has been home to ACT 3 International, The Arts Fission Company, Echo Philharmonic Society, The Finger Players, and Teater Kami under National Arts Council’s Arts Housing Scheme since 1992.A heritage tour by actors will guide visitors through the Arts Centre with anecdotes and stories of the semi-Chinese architectural style building. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls and drop in on open classes and other participatory arts activities. An after dark event awaits visitors with the garden lit up in soft glowing lanterns. Visitors can encounter spontaneous dance performances at different corners of the Arts Centre and be enthralled by the quiet magic of the Cairnhill heritage building.Hope to see you all there for a night of celebration and remembrance!
