With the backdrop of collective movements like #MeToo and #TimesUp gaining momentum in the past year, the fourth edition of Objectifs’ Women in Film and Photography takes on the theme of COLLECTIVE POWER. We turn our spotlight to photographers and filmmakers who seek to empower and effect change within and across communities through their work.
As part of our Women in Photography 2018 Exhibition, Objectifs has collaborated with Women Photograph to spotlight works by women photographers from around the world in this evening slideshow projection.
The Slideshow Projection will be followed by a Q&A with photographers Ore Huiying, Charmaine Poh and Amrita Chandradas, who are part Women Photograph.
Women Photograph is an initiative that launched in 2017 to elevate the voices of women visual journalists. The private database includes more than 750 independent women documentary photographers based in 99 countries and is available privately to any commissioning editor or organisation. Women Photograph also operates an annual series of project grants for emerging and established photojournalists, a year-long mentorship program, and a travel fund to help female photographers access workshops, festivals, and other developmental opportunities. Its mission is to shift the gender makeup of the photojournalism community and ensure that our industry's chief storytellers are as diverse as the communities they hope to represent.
