Sadaf Foroughi | 103 min | 2017 | PG13 Ava is a 17-year-old model student from a well-to-do family whose strictly controlled life in Tehran, Iran revolves around school, violin lessons and curfew. When her relationship with a boy leads her mistrustful and overprotective mother to violate her privacy, Ava is overwhelmed by a newfound rage and begins to rebel against the strictures imposed by her parents, school and society at large.  Ava is a coming-of-age film that provokes us to consider what it means to grow up and chart one’s life in a conservative, patriarchal environment where societal pressures and expectations constantly threaten to overpower inner motivations and desires.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF9pDPmF3is· Won – Toronto International Film Festival 2017, Discovery Award (FIPRESCI Prize)· Screened – Film Society of Lincoln Centre, New Directors New Films 2018______________________Post-Screening Discussion with Leong Puiyee and Aishah Abu Bakar  Leong PuiyeeLeong Puiyee is a manager at Objectifs, where she is responsible for the film programmes and projects.
