Photo: Sky Mirror, 2006 / photo by Tim Mitchell / ©Anish Kapoor, 2018現代美術界の世界の巨匠『アニッシュ・カプーア』の大規模個展！毎年、国際的に活躍する1組のアーティストを別府に招聘し、地域性を活かしたアートプロジェクトを実現する個展形式の芸術祭『in BEPPU』。 2016年の現代芸術活動チーム『目』、2017年の西野達に続いて今年招聘するのは、現代美術の分野において最も重要なアーティストの1人として国際的に注目されているイギリスを代表するアーティスト、アニッシュ・カプーアです。2015年にヴェルサイユ宮殿で行った個展やロンドンオリンピックの記念モニュメントの制作など、大規模な作品で世界中を魅了させてきたアニッシュ・カプーアによる個展を今秋に開催いたします。世界初公開の新作を含む作品を10点以上を展示。国内ではかつてない規模の展示となります。“in BEPPU” is an annual program inviting one internationally active artist or artist group to Beppu for the realization and exhibition of a piece utilizing the city’s regional characteristics. This year, following the 2016 invitation of artist collective Mé and the 2017 invitation of Tatzu Nishi, we welcome the artist internationally recognized as one of the most significant in the contemporary field, Britain’s Anish Kapoor.
