On the way to Telok Ayer Street you will learn more about the great diversity of the Chinese community in mid-19th century Singapore, and the spirit of mutual assistance as provided by the Clan Associations. You will visit UNESCO awarded Wak Hai Cheng Bio and Tien Hock Keng temples — great examples of Southeast Asia temple architecture — where you will meet gods and goddesses and learn about Chinese religions and symbolism. You will discover that Chinatown was not only a Chinese enclave by visiting one of the oldest Indian Muslim mosques. While admiring the beautiful facades of shophouses, you will climb to the highest point of Chinatown, Ann Siang Hill, before rounding our tour off at the URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) with its very informative City Gallery. Our Tuesday Small-Group Discovery Walks are aimed at visitors and new Singapore residents, but we find even "old timers" learn a lot. We keep to a max of 10 and pace the walk to take our sultry climate into account; lots of water and air-con stops are included. Due to the small-group size the price is just a little higher. Please note confirmation of this tour includes the exact meeting place and will be sent by email to all those registered about 24 hours in advance; this will be preceded by a Peatix or Verlocal message to all registered."I would like to thank you for the tour yesterday, it’s been a wonderful morning!
