performing arts.
Harder Than This – The Musical is an original production of Gen Y
Production Asia; a contemporary musical production that aims to break the
stigma of mental health. A little unusual; these are actual life
experiences of our lead cast who found the courage to “unmask” themselves on
stage.
This production covers a broad spectrum of issues which includes: severe depression, anxiety disorder, suicidal tendencies, and upbringing. Depression can be a
debilitating condition, but often it is a warning sign and a cry for help. Those
with great artistic ability naturally turn to art to express themselves. Ashlyn
Harris is one of the lead cast of Harder Than This – The Musical. Ashlyn is a
Malaysian born actor, whom has recently performed in “Wicked The Musical” of
London West End, and she will be performing together with Erica Gens, an Italian singer – songwriter, as well as
Charine Cham, an aspiring Malaysian musical theatre performer.
Harder Than This – The Musical will be opening on the 5th
of July, 2018 at KuAsh Theatre, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. The original cast is
scheduled to perform four shows in Kuala Lumpur on the 5th, 6th
and 8th of July, 2018. The proceeds will be channeled to Befrienders
Kuala Lumpur to support their aim in
developing emotional self-awareness, and to improve emotional health and
well-being.
This musical performance will create a paradigm shift with a new
twist of arts in approaching the mental health issues. Gen Y Production Asia
wishes to share this heartbreaking, yet amusing musical drama with viewers of
