Find out in this workshop by the musicians of Angger Gamelan Ensemble (AGE) from Indonesia and Gamelan Asmaradana (GA) from Singapore. AGE will demonstrate the traditional oral-transmission style of learning gamelan, while GA will teach you how to play gamelan as practised in Singapore.Angger Gamelan Ensemble (AGE) is an initiative by Mr Angger Widhi Asmara, son of dance maestro, the late Pak KRT S. Witoyo Tondodipuro, and other young musicians from Solo, Indonesia. AGE incorporates music styles found in modern theatrical productions and Hollywood movie soundtracks into traditional wayang orang (“human theatre”) and dance theatre productions.  Gamelan Asmaradana (GA) was founded in 2004 by an eclectic mix ofenthusiasts passionate about sharing their love of gamelan music in Singapore and beyond. GA believes that while gamelan music has its roots in Java, it is now widely appreciated throughout the Malay Archipelago and across communities. This is embodied in the varied backgrounds and ethnicities of the members.This workshop is part of Kreatif Connections at the Asian Civilisations Museum from Friday, 29th June 2018 to Sunday, 1st July 2018.Registrations open 30 minutes before workshop. This workshop is suitable for beginners and children ages 7 years and above.  2. Why do we have to put down a refundable deposit of $10/pax?As the workshop spaces are highly limited, this is to ensure that the instructor and facilitators' times are fully utilized.
