Yong's journey began with his NUS geography honours thesis in 2009, exploring how colonial buildings matter to younger Singaporeans. His thesis, which won the Preservation of Monuments Board’s Undergraduate Thesis Grant, laid the groundwork for his passion for Singapore’s heritage. Today, Yong is the mastermind behind @urbanist.singapore, a TikTok and Instagram account with over 20K followers. Through entertaining and insightful videos, Yong bridges the gap between urban design and built heritage, making heritage accessible to a new generation. Yong's passion extends beyond the digital realm. As a hobby, he leads captivating heritage walking tours around Singapore. With Yong as your guide, you'll explore hidden stories behind iconic landmarks, bringing the city's past to life with every step. Yong's approachable style and knack for storytelling make even the most complex histories easy to understand and enjoyable for everyone. Join Yong on an adventure through Singapore's vibrant past, where every street corner holds a treasure trove of stories waiting to be uncovered! Please note that this is a paid programme. Before purchasing a ticket, please read the following:1. Tour details: This is an outdoors walking tour, with some parts taking place indoors. Please dress in comfortable clothes and shoes, bring along a water bottle and use sun protection. Umbrella or poncho is recommended in case of wet weather. 2. Meeting point: Asian Civilisations Museum main entrance. Please arrive 10 mins before the start of the tour for registration. There is no waiting for latecomers. Refunds will not be given to latecomers.3. Programme duration: The tour is 2 hours long, and will end at ACM. 4. Wet weather: The tour will proceed as planned if there is light rain. Participants are encouraged to bring an umbrella or poncho along. In the event of heavy rain or adverse weather conditions, ACM reserves the right to cancel the tour, and your ticket will be refunded. All registered participants are required to provide a contact number and are encouraged to check their Peatix messages for updates on potential weather-related cancellations.If there is an unforeseen cancellation, participants may still visit ACM to check out the other activities happening that day. 4. Cancellations/Refunds: Please write to us via Peatix messages or email us at NHB_ACM_Prog@nhb.gov.sg, 48 hours before the event start time if you need to cancel your ticket. Late cancellations and no-shows will be subject to ticket fees.5. Maximum Ticket Purchases: To allow more participants to enjoy the programme, each customer is allowed to purchase up to 4 tickets. We reserve the right to cancel additional tickets purchased, and refunds will be arranged. 6. Age Limit: This activity is suitable for ages 18 and above. Please note that if you do not meet the age requirement you may be turned away at the door and refunds will not be provided.7.
