National Library Building. The premier festival in the region for writers,
illustrators, translators, publishers and industry professionals working with
Asian children’s books, AFCC will mark the theme “Imagine-Asia” with Singapore
as the Country of Focus. Award-winning writer Suchen Christine Lim will give
the Children’s Lecture, while we pay tribute to the pioneer illustrator Kwan

the Singapore Book Council, AFCC celebrates Singapore as the Country of Focus
this year. While Singapore has a relatively short history of children’s
book publication, compared to other Asian countries, recent years have seen a burgeoning scene that has become more vibrant and diverse. From Mooty to Amos Lee and Sherlock Sam, we have created our own iconography of beloved children’s characters over the
years.AFCC gathers local writers, illustrators, publishers,
booksellers, academics and practitioners to take part in a series of specially
curated programmes and discuss on topics such as developing our children’s

conference. it has since expanded to become a premier regional event that
brings together esteemed local and international talents including writers,
illustrators, editors, publishers, distributors, as well as parents and

in its 9th year running, the SBC is committed to expanding AFCC to boost its
