Our esteemed speaker, Joseph Yoder, brings over 30 years of experience within the Pattern Language community and has played a significant role in its organization. Additionally, Takashi Iba and YC Cheng will provide supplemental commentary. Although the lecture will be delivered in English, consecutive Japanese interpretation will be available. The presentation slides will be displayed in both English and Japanese for clarity and convenience. In the evening, please join us for a stand-up welcome reception. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to mingle and network with other participants. As an optional event, we invite interested attendees to join us before noon for an engaging campus tour of Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC). The tour includes a visit to the Iba Laboratory, known for crafting many Pattern Languages. The workshop will be organized into two distinct groups for robust discussions: one for papers written in English and another for those in Japanese. Scheduled for February 29th and March 1st, these sessions will involve consistent dialogue within the same groups over both days. We strongly recommend that authors of the papers participate throughout the two-day period. Additionally, the 'Writer's Workshop' welcomes individuals who haven't submitted papers, encouraging their involvement and future paper submissions. Typically inaccessible to the public, this school campus will be open to us for a special tour, courtesy of the gracious cooperation of the school authorities. This visit presents a unique opportunity to directly observe and experience the distinctive 'quality without a name' that Alexander's design philosophy embodies. While most of the conference activities are concentrated within the campus in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, we've dedicated this day to immerse in the vibrant atmosphere of Tokyo. As a result, we do not provide one-day pass options. While we welcome those who may only be able to participate for a limited time (If you are only able to attend part of the event, please purchase a ticket for the entire duration). However, this knowledge of design and practice is usually confined to the individual, making it inaccessible to others. What if we could articulate this tacit knowledge and share it with others? This is where Pattern Languages come into play. Originally developed as a method to share knowledge about designing good towns and buildings, it was later used to share expertise in excellent software design. Subsequently, Pattern Languages have been created across a wide range of fields to articulate and share knowledge in professional and everyday practices.AsianPLoP is a conference held in Asia, bringing together people interested in articulating and sharing knowledge of good design and practices across various fields. During the conference, participants bring their short papers and exchange feedback and further ideas to improve each other’s work. This fosters a collaborative environment for facilitating the creation of pattern languages to empower individuals and communities for a better future.
