In this panel discussion, Cándida Fernández de Calderón, director of the Fomento Cultural Citibanamex. A.C., discusses her work with craftsmen to preserve and promote Mexican heritage. Cándida is a researcher and historian dedicated to honouring the great masters of Mexican folk art. She has curated over 47 exhibitions, overseen the restoration of historic buildings and archaeological sites, and contributed to 40 award-winning publications that promote Mexican artistic traditions. The talk will be followed by a panel discussion with Lidia Riveros, Tracy Tang, and Denisonde Simbol, who worked with diverse communities to amplify their voices in the Manila Galleon exhibition.Light refreshements will be served during the session.   About the speaker Cándida Fernández de Calderón has been the director of Fomento Cultural Citibanamex since 1992. She promotes Mexican heritage both nationally and internationally and has coordinated major museography projects around the world, including presentations at the Prado Museum, Madrid, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. She received the Covarrubias Prize in 2013 for the Centro de Textiles del Mundo Maya project. In 2014 she was awarded the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise by the government of Spain. About the panel Lidia Riveros is an independent curator who specialises in Mexican culture and folk art. She received the prestigious Ohtli Award from the government of Mexico in 2022 for her contributions to the promotion of Mexican culture. She has organised numerous art installations to preserve Mexican culture through storytelling and curation. Tracy Tang worked in the design and media industry for six years before entering show business. Her interest in creative and design thinking has allowed her to work in a broad spectrum of fields, including film, animation, fashion, interior design, magazines, styling and UI/UX design. She runs Production55, a holistic production house that provides multimedia services in Singapore and Cebu. Denisonde Simbol is the Senior Manager (Research & Library) at ACM. She supports the research needs of the museum and coordinates research programmes, such as the ACM Research Fellowship and curatorial lectures and conferences.
