The Japanese Society of Tourism and Hospitality EducationThe 23rd Annual Conference Theme: Considering Global Human Resource Development in the Post-COVID EraThe 23rd Annual Conference will be held at Hokusei Gakuen University (Sapporo) on March 9 and 10, 2024, under the theme "Considering Global Human Resource Development in the Post-COVID Era." The keynote speaker will be Dr. Tadayuki Hara from the Rosen School of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida. The theme of his talk will be “The Future of Japanese Tourism as Seen from Orange County, Florida.” He will discuss why Orlando, Orange County has not become an overtourism destination and why young tourism professionals are being nurtured and attracted to Orlando. He will also discuss the necessity of global human resource development in Japan. In the panel discussion, we will invite panelists from the tourism and hospitality industry in Hokkaido and a representative from a local high school.The panel discussion promises to be engaging for participants from various backgrounds, including universities, high schools, and the business world, who share a broad interest in tourism and hospitality education. Starting this year, we are inviting a wide range of research and educational reports in English. We plan to offer bilingual venues (English and Japanese) for some of the workshops, as part of our efforts to internationalize the conference.The keynote speech, topic presentation, and panel discussion on the first day of the conference will be accessible via Zoom, so we invite you to participate.
