Using case studies and stories from all over the world, this workshop will include discussions on adventure play, risk and challenge, and how the societal need to over-schedule and over-protect may have a detrimental effect on the lives of our children. Join us as we explore the amazing benefits of child-directed play, and learn about ways to support independence, experimentation and risk-taking in child-led play. |FILM SCREENING|As well as being given expert answers to your questions about play, participants will be shown the renowned short documentary The Land (Play Free Movie) about the famous Welsh adventure playground. Note: This event is suitable for parents and educators of children of all ages. |ABOUT THE SPEAKER|Suzanna Law graduated with a First-Class Honours Bachelors Degree in Playwork, her second degree after a Bachelors in Chemistry. With over 8 years of experience in in the field, she is currently working towards her PhD in Playwork at Leeds Beckett University under Professor Fraser Brown, the world’s first Professor of Playwork. Suzanna is the co-founder Pop-Up Adventure Play, a UK-based charity, to aid in the dissemination of the playwork approach around the world. At Pop-Up Adventure Play, she leads on project coordination and online communications, and has just completed a successful cross-country Canadian adventure, the 4th Pop-Up Adventure Play multi-location tour.|ADDITIONAL INFORMATION|The event will be hosted on Friday, 8 June 2018, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at Hall 2 UOB Ability Hub, Enabling Village (20 Lengkok Bahru, Singapore 159053).The price per person is $5 (Singapore Dollars).To secure your spot, please RSVP on Facebook and obtain your ticket here.
