We are bringing you to our most unique venue yet - the Sentosa Nature Discovery Geology Gallery, where we'll enjoy music inspired by nature, set against a rainforest background! Our collaboration with GastroGeography of Singapore (gos.sg), gives a different take on “makan”. They will do a show and tell of edible plants hidden in plain sight in our surroundings! Join us for a memorable evening, and great music of course. Tickets are limited ($10 for the public and $5 for Sentosa islander) so get yours early to avoid disappointment! In addition,Shirley also holds a Bachelor of Music (Hons, First Class) from the Royal Welsh College ofMusic & Drama (RWCMD) and won the Kenneth Smith Prize Flute Competition that washeld in the United Kingdom in 2010.During her studies in the UK, Shirley was selected to perform for the Asian Youth Orchestratour in 2016, William Bennett International Flute summer school in 2013 and Oxford flutesummer school in 2011.Passionate about fostering a sense of community through music, Shirley is a committeemember of the newly established King's Flute Choir. She is also actively involved in variousarts groups in Singapore, including Re:Sound Chamber Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra,New Opera Singapore, Base Entertainment Asia, and Metropolitan Festival Orchestra.Shirley Tong's dedication to her craft, coupled with her commitment to music education, hasmade her a respected figure in the Singaporean music scene. Her journey continues to inspireaspiring musicians, and her contributions to both education and performance reflect a deep-seated love for the art of music.Jonathan ShinJonathan Shin performs extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, as well as composes and improvises across multiple genres and styles. Jonathan began his career as a pianist. A prizewinner of Singaporean and international piano competitions, he was awarded top prizes across all age categories of the National Piano and Violin Competition. At 16, he made his concerto debut with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra with Franck’s Symphonic Variations; the following year, Jonathan became the youngest winner of the concerto competition at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. Eminent artists with whom Jonathan has worked with include John Perry, Cyprien Katsaris, Vladimir Viardo, Luis de Moura Castro, Eliso Virsaladze, and the late Mark Ray. Jonathan began composing professionally at 24, starting with his song cycle for countertenor The Other Merlion and Friends, which was critically reviewed as “probably the most compelling and worthwhile new work from any Singaporean composer in recent years.” (The Straits Times) During his graduate studies at the Longy School of Music, Jonathan won the concerto competition twice, as well as the orchestral composition competition; upon graduation he was conferred the Patricia Sherman Award and the Roman Totenburg Award. In October 2019, he was awarded the Emerging Artist Award by the St. Botolph Club, a Massachusetts-based foundation. In the same month, his 1819 Suite, commissioned for the Singapore Bicentennial, was reviewed to be “supremely confident and comfortable in its own skin.” (The Straits Times) In November 2022, he performed in his large-scale choral symphony Illuminations, which was premiered by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Singapore Symphony choral groups. Jonathan holds a doctoral degree in classical composition from Johns Hopkins University, with a concentration on phenomenology and how perceptual time is experienced in opera.
