Join Afton Chen (Reckless Ericka), Lina Osman (LINAOTH), and Taufiq Iskandar (Youths in Balaclava) as they talk about how their respective labels began and have evolved through the years. This panel discussion is organised in conjunction with the opening of RUNWAY SINGAPORE #SGFASHIONNOW at the KF Gallery in Seoul, which runs from 21 November 2023 to 31 January 2024. It is the latest and largest showcase of ACM’s ongoing #SGFASHIONNOW series, which explores Singapore fashion through the lens of the city’s cosmopolitan port city heritage. The exhibition is presented in collaboration with LASALLE College of the Arts’ School of Fashion and the Singapore Fashion Council.Light refreshments will be served from 6pm onwards at the basement foyer.  Panellists Afton Chen Reckless Ericka was founded in 2009 by Afton Chen. Known for its bold femininity, distinctive prints, and functional designs, the brand’s collections have been showcased at major regional platforms, such as the Singapore Fashion Festival and Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week. The label has also been commissioned for collaborations, uniforms, and theatre costumes. In 2015 Reckless Ericka designed costumes for the Singapore Festival in Paris, for which it won Best Costume Design at the M1 – The Straits Times LIFE! Theatre Awards.Lina Osman Lina Osman graduated with a diploma in Apparel Design and Merchandising from Temasek Polytechnic in 2016 and founded LINAOTH in 2020. She often draws inspiration from daily life and personal stories. The brand is known for combining softness with structure, and classic elements with innovative silhouettes.Taufiq Iskandar Taufiq Iskandar is the founder, CEO, and creative director of Youths in Balaclava, fashion collective of seven designers in their twenties. In 2017 their distinctive style caught the attention of Adrian Joffe, president of the Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons and the international luxury retailer Dover Street Market. Their anti-establishment approach to design and links to youth culture have gained a strong following among fashion enthusiasts. They have shown at every Paris Fashion Week since 2019. Respondent Daniela Monasterios TanDaniela Monasterios Tan is fashion researcher and educator. She studied Fashion Curation at the London College of Fashion. Daniela co-hosts the vodcast "In the Vitrine" with Dr Nadya Wang. In 2012, Daniela co-founded the fashion collective MASH-UP with Shaf Amis’aabudin and Nathanael Ng. The collective received a seed grant and was part of the business incubator project Parco Next Next. Daniela was also part of the lecturing team that oversaw the student co-curated #SGFASHIONNOW series, in partnership with ACM, from 2021 to 2023.
