A considerable number of Singapore authors were included in the database, yet reaction in Singapore has been much more muted: many authors and readers may still be unsure what to think about this issue. This power-packed panel brings together representatives from the author, publisher, and lawyer communities to discuss and hopefully shed light on this contentious and rapidly developing issue.  Panelists Jeffrey LimJeffrey Lim is a lawyer specializing in IP, data protection, cybersecurity, data governance, and AI. He helped develop the AI Ethics Body of Knowledge and AI Ethics professional certification programme with the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) and IMDA.Tse Hao GuangTse Hao Guang is the author of The International Left-Hand Calligraphy Association (Tinfish Press, 2023). He edited the new edition of Wong May’s A Bad Girl’s Book of Animals (Ethos Books, 2023). His poems and essays appear in Poetry, Poem-a-Day, The Yale Review, Poetry Northwest, Entropy and elsewhere. He has recently created poetry in collaboration with Zheng Jialei, Ivan David Ng, MiniGPT-4, GPT-J, Boedi Widjaja, and Whisper.cpp.Peter SchoppertPeter Schoppert is a publisher and reformed technology entrepreneur who has made his career in Singapore. He is currently the Director of the NUS Press, the scholarly publishing arm of the National University of Singapore. He is past President of the Singapore Book Publishers Association, and serves on the Copyright Working Group of the International Publishers Association and the Board of Directors of the Copyright Licensing and Administration Society of Singapore. He writes on generative AI at https://aicopyright.substack.com.Sharon WeeSharon Wee was born and raised in Singapore. She worked for Mars Confectionery in Hong Kong and China in the 1990s.  She has an MBA from New York University and currently resides in Manhattan, where she trained at the French Culinary Institute. She first published Growing Up in a Nonya Kitchen in 2012, updating with a new edition in 2023 with essays on the Peranakan culture, new cooking instructions and photographs.  Her recipes have been featured in the New York Times and the Washington Post. She chronicles her food experiences on Instagram @nonya.global. Sharon’s title is among the 183,000 that have been fed to AI in the Books3 database.  Moderator Daryl Lim Wei Jie is a poet, translator and literary critic from Singapore. His poetry collection, Anything but Human, was a finalist for the 2022 Singapore Literature Prize. He won the Golden Point Award for English Poetry in 2015. Daryl co-edited Food Republic: A Singapore Literary Banquet, an anthology of literary food writing from Singapore, which received a Special Award at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2023.
