Final Fantasy 15’s new story content kills a major fan theory

Description
Final Fantasy 15’s version 1.6 update went live last Friday, and by it came several new cutscenes to fill out the Kronos 3 Gold overall game’s story. Alongside bug fixes and new items (and fish to hook!), Square Enix tweaked the 12th chapter, finally squashing a long-held fan theory from the process. Here’s your obligatory spoiler warning for Final Fantasy 15, by the best way.Chapter 12’s “new event,” as Square Enix described it within a tweet, covers several events conducive up to your climactic event inside Final Fantasy 15 lore: the War on the Astrals. This is primarily told not through cutscenes, just like the rest on the new content, but illustration. This may be considered a disappointment for anybody looking for added time with Ifrit, one from the six gods on the Astrals, and also the one most reviled with the human citizens of Eos.
But regardless, Shiva — another Astral and narrator of many on the new scenes — fills inside gaps of Ifrit’s backstory. Known because “Betrayer” for turning his back on humans, Ifrit actually felt betrayed from the people of Eos first. Citizens in the Solheim region turned against not simply Ifirt, but all Astrals, despite these otherworldy beings offering only love and support for the kids. Enraged by their deceit, Ifrit feels obligated to address back against Solheim, plotting to shed it all down. This prompts one other Astrals to regretfully defend the humans using their fellow god, Shiva explains.
It’s key that Shiva will be the one explaining Ifrit’s story; the two of Astrals were in love. And that revelation is huge for everyone who followed Final Fantasy 15’s most polarizing theory. Earlier this coming year, fans did start to hypothesize in what was occurring in Pitioss Ruins, probably the most difficult and mysterious dungeon in the sport. The theory is ... complicated. We invite one to read the whole thing by yourself, though the abridged version is the fact players believed the villainous Ifrit was a fantastic guy who searched for to protect a goddess named Eos (yep, just like the globe of the overall game.) The various statues along with set dressing in Pitioss Ruins was interpreted as symbolizing the tale of Ifrit and Eos: How their star-crossed love ended with Ifrit saving Eos’ in the expense of her body, to be able to save the earth while losing the humans’ trust.Phew.
It’s a great deal! But in just below 10 minutes, Chapter 12’s new scenes undo this theory for good. That’s best part about it for Final Fantasy purists who rejected the Pitioss Ruins theory in the get-go, even mainly because it persisted inside fandom. For those less invested within the deep lore of Final Fantasy 15, there’s some nice scenes with female lead Lunafreya from the mix also. It’s nice to view her find some more screen time, whether or not it’s a little bit. Players who want to look into the new scenes can dip back to Chapter 12 through the experience’s chapter select menu. We’ve also included them above, in the event it suits you.
