Screening of The Playground: Gone Kimmy Gone & Vicky

Description

Inspired by Arthur Yap’s famous poem “2 Mothers in an HDB playground”, Our Playground is a selection of films set at Singapore’s historical playgrounds. Like the poem, these films explore the psycho-social landscape of playgrounds as a lens to read society and the personal relationships which connect us all.

The Playground: Gone Kimmy Gone / 66 min / 2015 / K. Rajagopal / PG

Based on Arthur Yap’s poem, this telemovie was produced for screening on Channel 5 in 2015. The film revolves around the relationship between two sisters Hui Fang and Hui Ying, and Hui Fang’s young son Kim Cheong.

Vicky / 5 mins / 2015 / Royston Tan / PG

Filmed at the iconic dragon playground, Vicky sees two brothers attempting to dig up their deceased hamster. In the process, they dig up mementos from the past.
