About this walk
Do you know the history behind the Botanic Gardens, the university campus grounds in Bukit Timah, Command House and the names behind the roads, buildings and sites there? Join Claire and Bianca as we navigate you from Botanic Gardens to Bukit Brown via Kheam Hock Road. Along the way we'll share stories of the WWII war heroes and stories, tales of the kampung, and some of Singapore's prominent pioneers and an introduction into Chinese tomb designs. We encourage participants to share their personal stories too. We will be walking on paved roads as well as trekking through the jungle, so make sure that if you join for this walk you wear the proper outfit for a light jungle trekking. There are no bathrooms along the way and no places to buy water, so make sure you bring some snacks and drinks along and visit the bathroom before we start and apply mosquito repellent. We'll end at Bukit Brown - Sime Road, from where those who drive can take a bus back to the Botanic Gardens. Bukit Brown was on the World Monuments Watch list 2014. Find out what makes this a heritage site worthy of preserving.

Kindly arrive 15 minutes before the start of the walk so that the walk can begin on time.

Do note that the walking route may contain the following:
  • Kerbs and steps
  • Sidewalks
  • Busy or noisy vehicle traffic
  • Dirt paths
Seniors and children are welcome.
