FUJI TEXTILE WEEK 2023 | Peatixtag:peatix.com,2011:12023-12-24T19:59:18+09:00PeatixFuji Textile WeekFUJI TEXTILE WEEK 2023tag:peatix.com,2023:event-36347382023-11-23T10:00:00JST2023-11-23T10:00:00JSTFUJI TEXTILE WEEKは、伝統的な織物産業と現代アートが掛け合わされた国内唯一の「布の芸術祭」です。1000年以上続く織物の産地である山梨県富士吉田市を舞台に、糸や布などを用いた芸術表現を通じてテキスタイルの新たな可能性を模索する場として誕生しました。3年目の開催となるFUJI TEXTILE WEEK 2023は、「Back to Thread / 糸への回帰」がテーマ。かつてこの地域は、気候や土壌の性質などの影響で農耕に適さない土地であったことから、養蚕・紡績・染色・織りの工程を担う産地となりました。その後、社会の様々な変化とともに、糸は他の地域からの輸入へと移り変わり、産地のものづくりは糸の仕入れに大きく影響を受けるようになりました。近年は糸の仕入れ価格高騰なども受けて、生産者と消費者の意識は素材や環境問題への関心へと広がっています。本イベントでは、アート展や産地展、トークプログラムなどを通して、素材としての糸への関心や、ものづくりの原点に立ち返る視点を発見することができます。会期中は、国内外のアーティストが出展する「アート展」をはじめ、伝統的な織物である甲斐絹を現代的な展示で紹介する「デザイン展」、B反市など、様々なイベントを開催します。さらに、今年は富士山の世界文化遺産登録10周年であることにちなみ、「富士山借景」企画として富士山ビュースポットの特別開放「FUJI SKY ROOF(フジスカイルーフ)」や、フォトコンテストも開催します。FUJI TEXTILE WEEK is Japan's unique Textile Art Festival, blending Textiles and Art, while focusing on preserving traditional industries and revitalizing Fujiyoshida City in Yamanashi Prefecture, a textile production hub for over a thousand of years. Since 2021, it explores new textile possibilities through art and design. This event connects both. domestic and international communities, repurposing old textile-related facilities for exhibitions and preserving industrial heritage. Ultimately, it aims to revive Fujiyoshida, the textile town at the base of Mount Fuji.In the past, during the Edo Period, this region was unsuitable for farming due to factors such as climate and soil conditions. As a result, it became a hub for the textile industry encompassing sericulture, spinning, dyeing, and weaving. However, over time, with various societal changes, much of the yarn transitioned to imports from other regions, significantly affecting local production. In recent years, factors like rising yarn procurement prices have expanded the awareness of producers and consumers towards materials and environmental concerns. Another building in the town is now vacant, and its future is yet to be determined."mountain wishes come true" (a literal translation of the building's name) unveils Agassi's dialogue with the Yamakano building and its surrounding community. She skillfully integrates local elements into her artistic vision, bridging tradition and innovation.Agassi engages physical and metaphysical elements – time, memories, found objects, and imagination – to touch upon the space's history, recent changes, and boundless potential future. She introduces elements from her ongoing practice into the newly emptied structure. Agasi will include in the exhibition a number of collaborations with people, some of whom are very close to her (such as her 10-year-old son Jonah and her long-lasting sound collaborator Ryan Packard) and some she has met during recent months.参考作品 / Reference work｜From the exhibition "No Limestone, No Marble” "The Quiet Before the Storm" 2022 Photo by Clare Britt 清川 あさみ / Asami Kiyokawa 1979年兵庫県淡路島生まれ、東京を拠点に活動。90年代より雑誌の読者モデルとして注目を集め、2000年代には文化服装学院にて服飾を学びながら、「ファッションと自己表現の可能性」をテーマにアーティストとしての創作活動を開始。2001年に初個展 「SAUCE」を開催して以来、国内外で多数の展覧会を開催し、その活動は常に高い注目を集める。ソーシャルメディアや雑誌などのメディアシステムを通して日々膨大な情報に晒される社会で、個人のアイデンティティの内と外の間に生じる差異や矛盾に焦点を当て、可視化する。写真や雑誌、本や布に刺繍を施す独自の手法を用いた作品でよく知られ、代表作として「美女採集」「Complex」「TOKYO MONSTER」などのシリーズがあ る。近年は表現・活動の領域を広げ、衣装、広告、映像、空間、プロダクトデザインなどのクリエイティブに携わるとともに、絵本の制作や地方創生事業にも取り組む。 Asami Kiyokawa (b. 1979, Awaji Island, Hyogo, Japan) gained recognition as an amateur model in the 1990s and began her artistic practice centering on the possibilities of fashion and self-expression while studying fashion and clothing at the Bunka Fashion College during the 2000s. Since her first solo show SAUCE in 2001, Kiyokawa has held many exhibitions in Japan and abroad which has constantly been highly reviewed. As we are exposed to the influx of information through many media such as magazines and social media, Kiyokawa focuses on and illustrates the discrepancies and contradictions that exist in the intersection between our internal and external identities as individuals. She is known for her unique technique of embroidering on photographs, magazine pages, books, and fabric; her representative works including the Bijo Saishu [Female Beauty Collection] series, the Complex series, and the TOKYO MONSTER series. Recently, she has expanded her practice to other creative fields such as costume design, advertisements, spatial- and product designs, and making videos.
